Our goal is to provide your pet with the most comprehensive, state of the art medical, surgical, dental, and preventive medicine available. In doing so, you will come to realize that we treat your pet as though it were a member of our family.

    Dr. Miller received his Veterinary degree in 1986 at the University of Missouri. He spent 8 years in Las Vegas, NV (where he grew up) at a 4-doctor hospital where he acquired a special interest in Ultrasound Diagnostics. Special veterinary interests include: Radiology (ultrasound), Internal Medicine, and Soft Tissue Surgery.  In his spare time he is very active in his church and continues to dabble in many outdoor sports though he has mastered none!  Dr. Miller has two grown children, Jennifer and Spencer, and one grandchild, Brayden.  His wife, Leigh, is a native of Columbia and is also very active in outdoor sports.

  • Brush

    Steven M. Brush, D.V.M.


    Dr. Brush has been a lifelong resident of Columbia.  Growing up a Viking, a Kewpie and finally a Tiger by attending the University of Missouri where he met his bride to be and graduated from the School of Veterinary Medicine.  Knowing that they wanted to raise their family in Columbia Dr. Brush started his Veterinary career at Horton Animal Hospital where he developed an interest in Endoscopy and both Soft Tissue and Orthopedic Surgery.  Away from work Dr. Brush enjoys spending time with his family; his wife Kim, their four children: Michael, Elizabeth, Megan, Joshua and their Granddaughter Cecily.  He also enjoys getting outdoors and helping with various church related activities.

  • Beth A. Luebbering, D.V.M.


    Dr Beth Luebbering developed her love for animals while growing up on the family farm in St Thomas Missouri. She attended Truman State University for her undergraduate studies and graduated from the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine in 2006.  During vet school she realized how much she enjoyed the city of Columbia and wanted to make it her home.  She started her veterinary career at Horton Animal Hospital and moved to Pet Center, Ltd in 2017. In her spare time Dr Luebbering enjoys giving back to our community by serving as a coach for various Special Olympics teams, being race director for the Malted Mile and helping out the Columbia Track Club Cross Country Team.  She is also an active parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.

  • Rebecca M. Simons, D.V.M.


    Dr. Markenson is a native St. Louisan and received her veterinary degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 2013.  She spent her first two years of practice at an exclusive small animal hospital in St. Louis, but inevitably knew that Columbia was where she wanted to settle down. When she’s not working with her beloved patients, Dr. Markenson enjoys reading, working on her tennis game, and spending time with her four-legged family members, her cat Peaches and two dogs Gus, a Boston Terrier, and Dallas, a Chihuahua mix.

  • Olivia Baker


    Olivia is our hospital's office assistant. She was born and raised in Columbia, Missouri. She attended college at Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri where she received her bachelor's degree in Business in 2014. Outside of work Olivia enjoys spending time reading, following her favorite sports teams and taking hikes with her four-legged friend Aggie, who enjoys accompanying Olivia to work every day.

  • Bruce Baker

    Bruce Baker


    Bruce is the hospital manager of Pet Center Ltd. Bruce has lived in Columbia since 1977 and co-founded Pet Center, Ltd. with Dr. Schauf in 1989. Bruce's immediate family consists of his wife Lynda (an elementary school teacher), daughters Kayla and Olivia. Chella is the pet Labrador Retriever who spends a fair amount of time as the hospital mascot and front door greeter! Bruce enjoys golfing and fishing when there is simply nothing else to do!

  • Chella, Aggie & Jess


    Chella, Aggie and Jess are Pet Center's front door greeters and mascots! Most days you'll find them sleeping behind the counter, playing with each other or looking for a treat! Chella, the yellow lab, has been coming to work everyday since February of 2010. Aggie, the German Shepherd/ Corgi mix, joined the family in October of 2014. Jess, the three legged yellow lab, joined the family in January of 2016. When Chella, Aggie, and Jess aren't hard at work they enjoy spending time with their family and other four-legged friends as well as going out to the farm for a run and swim.

  • Burton G. Schauf, D.V.M

    Burton G. Schauf, D.V.M.


    Dr. Schauf is a native of Kansas and a graduate of Kansas State University. Dr. Schauf and his wife, Colette, moved to Columbia in the spring of 1983. Their son, Cory, also lives in the Columbia area. Dr. Schauf enjoys spending time in the woods. He also may be found running or biking on the Katy trail. Felines Pekot and Taz (both rescues) share the Schauf home.
